Biography

Lucy studied Law & Criminology at Sheffield Hallam University where she completed work experience with the Criminal Cases Review Commission, contributing to work on criminal appeals cases and developing an understanding of post-conviction review, case analysis, and the criminal justice system. Lucy then moved back to Manchester where she completed her Legal practice course.

She joined Backhouse Jones as a Paralegal before commencing her training contract in September 2022. Lucy qualified as a solicitor in September 2024 into the Regulatory team.

Lucy represents clients at Public Inquiries before the Traffic Commissioner and regularly advises on regulatory compliance and enforcement action brought by the DVSA. She also assists with the preparation of cases arising from HSE investigations, Inquests in the Coroner’s Court and experience dealing with cases in the Magistrates’ and Crown Court. Lucy assists Operators and drivers in defending road transport prosecutions.

Outside work Lucy enjoys shopping, skiing and reading a good book on the beach.
