In recent weeks, we have been receiving queries relating to tachograph calibrations. Also, whether the extension to calibration expiries introduced in response to the COVID-19 pandemic was for 3-months or 6-months.
On 3 April 2020, the DVSA initially temporarily extended the validity of all tachograph calibration certificates for a period of 3 months (see Approved Tachograph Centre Special Notice 01/20: click here).
Since then, EU measures have been introduced to extend the validity of tachograph calibration certificates expiring between 1 March 2020 and 31 August 2020 for 6 months (see Approved Tachograph Centre Special Notice 02/20: click here).
All calibrations and inspection certificates expiring between 1 March 2020 and 31 August 2020 will therefore extended by 6 months. The extension runs from the date the calibration was originally due. Tachograph calibrations that expire from 1 September 2020 must be renewed as normal.
