We have recently published an article on an update relating to the DVSA’s views on the use of seat belt guards which can be found here. Following the publication of the article, we have been receiving an increased number of enquiries relating to disputes between the PSV Operator’s and the local authorities.
It is advisable that you have a discussion with the local authority in the first instance and highlight your concerns in respect of the use of the buckle guard which breaches the Road Vehicle (Construction and Use) Regulation 1986, regulation 48 (4).
If the local authorities are adamant that they require you to use the seat belt guards despite the highlighted issues, contact our Commercial Resolution team who will be able to advise you in respect of this type of dispute and assist with the next steps. If you have any queries or require assistance, contact our Commercial Resolution team on 01254 828 300.
