From today (24 July 2020), the wearing of face coverings in additional enclosed public spaces – including shops and retail outlets – becomes mandatory in England. The DfT has confirmed that the requirement extends to indoor parts of transport hubs in England. This includes indoor bus and coach stations and terminals.
Transport and hub operators are expected to remind passengers of the requirements through their communications and messaging and encourage compliance. This includes asking people to leave a transport hub if they are not wearing face coverings. Anyone breaching the requirements – who is not exempt under the relevant regulations – could face a fine by the Police/British Transport Police of up to £100.
