The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has announced further enhancements to its roadside prohibition notification system, aiming to streamline communication with operators and improve accessibility to enforcement information.
Since 18 June 2025, operators with a registered email address linked to their Operator Licence have been receiving prohibition notifications electronically. Building on this digital transition, the DVSA has confirmed that from 17 July 2025, these email notifications will now include a downloadable link to the official prohibition letter. This replaces the previous method of including the full wording of the notice within the body of the email.
Despite these digital developments, the process at the roadside remains unchanged: enforcement officers will continue to issue a physical copy of the prohibition during the vehicle stop, and operators will still receive clearance notices via post once the issue has been resolved.
For operators who have not provided an email address, the DVSA will continue to send prohibition notifications and related documentation to the business address on file.
Operators are encouraged to ensure their contact information is up to date by registering for the self-service portal on the Vehicle Operator Licensing (VOL) system, accessible at:

These updates are part of a broader push by the DVSA to modernise enforcement processes and improve communication efficiency. The agency has indicated that further enhancements are on the horizon and has committed to keeping operators informed of future changes.
