On 16 July 2025, the ‘Bend it like Backhouse’ team proudly took part in the Transaid Cup at Ilkeston Town FC – a charity football tournament in support of Transaid’s life-saving transport initiatives across Africa.
Despite the soaring temperatures, spirits were high and the football on display was full of energy. While we may not have taken home the silverware, we’re (unofficially) claiming the title of most stylish team.
Representing Backhouse Jones on the day were: Jonathon Backhouse, William Backhouse, Louise Brown, Emily Carpendale, Lucy Grainger, Carl Grainger (goalkeeper), Becky Ince, Ellie Kenyon, Kai Leyland, and Gabrielle Scriven – all giving it their all on the field in support of a great cause.
The Transaid Cup brings together companies from across the transport and logistics sector, uniting them for a fantastic cause, to help Transaid improve road safety and access to vital services in sub-Saharan Africa.
We’d like to thank Transaid and Ilkeston Town FC for organising such a brilliant event, and we look forward to lacing up our boots again next year!
