The Office of the Traffic Commissioner has issued an important reminder to all operator licence holders: ensure your contact details are accurate and up to date.
If you hold an operator’s licence, it is essential that the email address, telephone number, and postal address recorded on your licence are correct. Failure to maintain accurate details could result in you missing critical correspondence from the Traffic Commissioner, communications that may directly impact your licence.
The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) now issues prohibition notices and clearance notices via email. These messages are sent to the correspondence email address linked to your licence and include a secure link to download the relevant documents. If your email address is outdated, you may not receive these time-sensitive notices.
What you need to do
If your contact details have changed:
- Sign in to your Vehicle Operator Licensing (VOL) account.
- Navigate to the “Your account” section.
- Review your correspondence email, telephone number, and postal address.
- Update any incorrect information and save your changes.
If you do not yet have a VOL account, you should create one using the official GOV.UK service.
Who does not need to take action
You do not need to take any action if:
- You do not hold an operator’s licence, or
- Your contact details have not changed.
Keeping your information current ensures you stay informed and compliant. If you require any assistance, contact our regulatory team on 01254 828300.
