The HSE publicised information reminding operators about the health and safety aspects of using access equipment for loading and unloading.
They stated that some of the most hazardous activities carried out on a site. People can fall from a height, be struck by a vehicle or moving equipment, or struck by something falling on them, so it’s important to think carefully about how work can be done safely.
If operators provide handling or access equipment such as scissor lifts for workers to use while loading and unloading vehicles, they must make sure the equipment is only used by people who are competent to do so.
