PSVAR exemptions for home-to-school extended to July 2022
17 December 2021
As of yesterday, notification has been received from Under-Secretary of State for Transport, Baroness Vere to leaders of trade bodies representing the coach and bus sector and other stakeholders regarding PSVAR. Importantly, this information supersedes detail contained in Baroness Vere’s letter of 6 July.
Broadly, the key points to note are as follows:
- The current Home to School transport exemption that expires on 31 March 2022 is extended to 31 July 2022;
- There will be further exemptions granted beyond 31 July 2022, but these may be dependent on size of fleet, although it is likely that there will be a further six-month extension for all, but then extensions after that will require operators to meet increasing levels of compliance over the lifetime of the exemption;
- For Home to School operators who have an exemption which expires on 31 December 2021, you can apply for a ‘closed door’ exemption to expire on 31 July 2022 by emailing hometoschoolexemptions@dft.gov.uk
Further details will be brought to you when we have them.
