RHA Coach have recently released the following information regarding the relaxation of rules for drivers of tachographed vehicles as published by the DfT and DVSA which we set out below.
Drivers supporting the efforts in movement of both freight and passengers during the period of mourning have been granted a relaxation of the prescribed driving hours applicable under retained EU rules. In summary, this allows the maximum driving period to be extended from 10 to 11 hours on up to two days in a week and to allow for the full, 45hr weekly rest required in each two week period to be replaced with a reduced, 24hr weekly rest with compensation in subsequent weeks. The full details are available on the .Gov website.
It should be noted that these are only applicable to drivers engaged on duties directly connected with supporting Operation London Bridge (the funeral of Her Majesty The Queen) and working to EU rules, drivers working to domestic rules are not included under any of these relaxations.
