The CPT has had early notification that the annual ban of the carriage of groups of children by coach in France will be on Saturday 27th July 2024 and Saturday 3rd August 2024, from 00:00 hours to 24:00 hours. However, please note that the dates have yet to be officially published by the French Government, though they are not expected to change.
The ban relates to groups being carried by coach, where the main purpose of the journey is to transport those under the age of 18, like school or college trips. There are allowances for some movements during the ban. These include travelling inside one French “department”, or between one “department” and another. Also, it is not forbidden to carry children in other circumstances, such as where travelling as part of adult groups. The department of arrival in France is considered the department of departure for coaches arriving from outside France, .
Furthermore:
– The City of Paris and the departments of Hauts de Seine, Seine Saint-Denis and Val de Marne count as a single department.
– Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport is considered as part of the following departments: Val-d’Oise, Seine-Saint-Denis, and Seine-et-Marne.
– Orly airport is considered as part of the following departments: Val-de-Marne, and Essonne.
