When the new Vehicle Operator Licensing (VOL) Service launched in 2016, it gave operators the chance to do more online. GOV.UK Verify also allowed operators to sign an application digitally for the first time. From 1 April 2018, operators were no longer able to download the paper forms from GOV.UK. However, the system is only as good as the data being entered into it. Consequently, we recommend that operators periodically check the information held on the system about them and their business to ensure it is correct. It is the operators responsibility to ensure that the records held are correct.
For compliant operators, doing things online means their matters are likely to be dealt with quicker. In fact, operators are being positively encouraged to do more and more online and by 2019, the whole system will be paperless.
Make sure the information being held about you and your business is correct. You can register for the system or see what is being held on your business by clicking here https://www.gov.uk/manage-vehicle-operator-licence.
