DVSA Advises Suspension of Classroom Delivery; Introduces Option for Remote Training

In order to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, DVSA is advising that trainers should cease the delivery of any classroom-based driver CPC training.

As a temporary measure, the DVSA will allow approved CPC courses to be delivered remotely via digital platforms. CPC courses must still be seven hours long and this can be done in two 3 ½ hour sessions over consecutive days.

Trainers must ensure that the digital platform used is suitable for remote auditing that the appropriate records are maintained for quality assurance.

Trainers must also consider whether an online model is appropriate for the type of training and ensure that the required ID checks are carried out beforehand.

Any trainers who wish to deliver driver CPC courses remotely will need to email dcpc_cc@dvsa.gov.uk and provide a summary of their proposed remote delivery model.

This will not a permanent change to the way driver CPC courses and this provision will run until 12 June 2020.

The DVSA will provide further guidance for any drivers with a DQC which is due to expire shortly, who cannot access a remote course.
