Traffic Commissioners have been made aware of concerns that a number of drivers have been refused access to handwashing and toilet facilities amid the current COVID-19 pandemic.
The Government have issued clear guidance on the measures and safety precautions to be taken during this outbreak, which includes thorough and regular handwashing. In order to protect drivers, they must be able to carry out their duties safely, with access to the necessary sanitary facilities.
The HSE have advised that refusing drivers access to welfare facilities whilst they visit your premises as part of their work is against the law and could contribute to the spread of COVID-19.
HSE guidance can be found here.
